Hi all-

This is my first post so hopefully i'm in the right spot for this question. I'm wondering what size gas tank i have? I'm on a 2007 xl883. Clymer manual and from what my research on this forum have said i have a 3.3 gallon tank but i filled up today after my fuel light came on and it only took 2 gallons after 70 miles of riding. My tank is the stock black efi tank with the red Sportster logo on the side. I'll add pictures when I can.

When the light comes on you have about 1 gallon left.
There were 2 tanks used on Sportsters that year, either a 3.3 gallon or 4.5 gallon.

 

Welcome to HDF from the UK! If you don't have an owners manual, which gives the spec for your bike, you can download one from the H-D website, just go to the Owners tab with your VIN. Once the light comes on you have at least 30 miles more fuel available, so if you know where your next gas station is, you can confidently ride on. As you get more familiar with your bike you should find you can go even further, a total of 120 miles or more.

 

Base model '07 883 came with a 3.3 glln tank. That's what's in your pic.

 

I go with what HarleyScuba says, I have a 4.5. gal tank and when the fuel light comes on I can but about 3.25 to 3.5 gal. in it.
