I heard the Vance and Hines straightshot full pipes were some of the best and nicest sounding, is that true? what other options are very nice sounding out there? does it matter if it's a carb versus EFI for the sound?

I agree with Humpy. I had a '04 XL Custom 883 that wasn't too exciting. I replaced the SE II exhaust cans with Cycle Shack turnouts, rejetted the carb and put a SE I A/C on. It really woke up the performance and the sound was great. If I weren't running Rinehart's 2 into 1 on my Roadster, I would be using Cycle Shacks. ............... BC

 

V&H slip on's sound great and in the grand scheme, aren't that expensive (especially compared to the full pipes!).

I have Screamin Eagle 2 slip ons. I have been very impressed with the sound and the HP gains.

 

I have the V&H straighshots.The pipes and mufflers.They sound great to me.I did the carb re-jet and SE high-flow air cleaner also.It runs way better then stock that is for sure.

 

If a pipe sounds "nice" Id say it sucks...................I perfer the mean sounding ones!!!!!! The v&h are great thats what I run,also hear good things about cycle shacks.You should be able to get either for around $200 ,and there easy as hell to put on.If I had it to do over Id get the v&h short shots ,I love the look of them.
