There are, I believe, several years in which the wheels were, and maybe still are, interchangeable between bikes.
As in 2000-2005 are pretty much straight swap between Softail/Dyna/Sportsters.
Not in all cases, but most.
It may be the same in later years as well.

I wouldn't worry about the perceived wind issue. It's not a big deal at all.

righr but the wheels are irrelevant, the process is the concern. Can be done with deuce, fat boy, or other solid wheels. Many folks have made rear wheels into front wheels.

But yeah, those deuce wheels in post#8 that I never mentioned are different than Fatboys

That Damn cvaria will do that...just throw crap out which I just can't tolerate

(Disclaimer: I've seen that bike before and am a bit desensitized, otherwise I would have said "cool" he made a Rear into a Front)
We're on the same wave-length! Love solid rear wheels, one reason I have a Deuce on my Glide, but not for the front - that's an SG, which as a pair make it just about 'cool'!

My co-worker has fat boy rims/tires front and back on his sporty. He is a mechanic. Will ask.

According the the owner of this machine, it was a huge undertaking. A lot of grinding i.e. axle, wheel width, caliper alignment, etc.

It does to take care when swapping bike parts, especially across the model ranges. I've tried a few of the different mods that promise to be simple and have been tripped up, otheres which were supposed to be troublesome haven't been! My Deuce wheel fits my old Glide by the skin of it's teeth and is dead centre in my bike and fender, but others trying it have had problems. Be sceptical and prepared to take extra time to solve any challenges that pop up!

Been meaning to reply, but keep forgetting...

Just some more info for your "Informational Quiver"

Those solid rear wheels (with tapered wheel brgs) have been around at least since the 80's, but not on the sportster until 90's. They are mainly associated with the "Custom" model in the various "lines" and then included a Front wheel with introduction of 1990 Fatboy.
