Mirrors on a 48 with drag bars?
So…sigh…I spent all day at the dealer yesterday. As in 9am to 6pm while they installed pipes, intake, programmer, white walls and a drag bar they didn't have a riser for. So they, put the stock bars back on and overnighted the riser and its going back under the knife today.
The mechanic told me yesterday that the mirrors would have to be mounted ON TOP of the bars and not slung under like it is now because they will hit the tank. But I could have swore I've seen 48's with drag bars and the mirrors slung underneath. Is there a trick to it? Adaptor? Swap and adjust from left to right? I have questions and the pro's have answers! Help a brother out!

They will work fine mounted below with the drag bars, just install the drag bars and with the mirror stem loose, turn to the bar stop one way and carefully rotate the stem till the mirror head almost touches the tank and tighten the stem, then adjust the mirror head until you can see properly behind you and carefully turn to the lock again just to make sure the mirror head adjustment didn't bring the head closer to the tank, then do the same on the other side.

Im with gar187er, bars are easy and you feel a sense of accomplishment along with the money in your pocket. I had drag bars on my iron for the longest time and while i hated the mirrors underneath because i hate taking my eyes off the road to look behind me (if that makes sense) but im prety sure they would fit. Granted the spread is wide enough.

While they will mount underneath, I found them not very effective for me. This will vary person to person.
What I did was use a Bar End Mirror. Great visibility.
