Default Big time NEWB question... sorry.

Ok. Searched but did not see my question addressed.

Replaced some covers etc with HD Skull accs. on my 1200N. My question is on the Derby. I got the stuff and planned on black powder coating everything to have something different. Having said that, I really wanted to see the stuff on my bike. So I installed all of it. Coming from the Jeep world I always loctite blue stuff for the vibes so it only made sense here on the Derby. Now that I have done it I wonder about the consequences. Blue is not overly strong but I did not think about the heat. So in short when I remove this stuff soon to get the powdercoating done, am I going to have issues? Should I go ahead and pull it tonight?

Sorry for the Newb style question.

On another front, I torqued to 100 inch/lbs on the Derby. Is that right? It was pretty much hand snug for me. All I could find was Dyna specs.

Thanks all.

I replaced all my covers with skull covers and the hardware already had loctite applied from Harley. They have been on for 7 months now and I have not had anything come out or loosen up.

Hope this helps

Yeah, I seem to remember the screws being pre-treated with loc-tite, too. 100 in lbs seems about right, they don't need to be cranked down that much at all. If the covers fall off, just put them on tighter next time.

REMOVE IT!!!

I also am from the Jeep world. I also put blue locktite on my derby cover screws. No way I'm going to be able to get that derby cover off again, without a drill being involved. I've been living with it for about 10,000 miles, but pretty soon, I'm going to have to deal with it.

Yikes! I did notice some yellow type of what was either loctite equivalent or anti-sieze. I was afraid it was anti-seize. Thanks.
