My work buddy drives a 07 RG and wonders how i can drive hands off if i want to which is death wish for that year/ model according to him. Reality check? The Sporty is not a knee dragger and neither is the RGS. I bought my Sportster when i decided to get back into riding and after 7 years of daily driving it never lived up to what i wanted in a bike. I made an 883 scream. What do you think i can do with a 1690cc HO . I love my couchster that can handle like my Sporty . I have no problems with the Sportster but i do know its limitations.
I cant tell if youre purposely coming back much later just to try and get the last word and hope somebody wont respond or you are actually this passionate. This entire thread went so far over your head it actually hurts. Like id rather use lefty scissors for a month than watch this. The choice was between a dyna, sportster, and scout.

The correct way to make a point is to lay out the pros and cons of each and let others make their choice. Instead you come in, offer a solution that is neither of the 3, then continue to put down sportsters (mind you in the sportster thread) and just expect to change peoples mind.

PS, if your couch can out handle a sportster so well then why do people lowside them all the time from catching the saddle bags? There are many strengths to each bike however instead of going on about them you attacked the subject like a 2016 UCLA grad. Like just stop man, really. At this point you are not contributing to the discussion, youre just attacking something.

I only came back in here to see if John S got any help from my recommendation. Not entirely sure what is still going on with this.

I agree with Sawka. I always just assumed you had to be a geriatric and carry an AARP card to own a couch bike...Hey news flash...most of us that own sporty's cant afford $40,000 motorcycles.

rg's dont cost $40k. You can get a 2015+ one for starting around the price of a new street bob or new optioned out 48.

They aren't bad at all but, i refuse to touch one right now. Honestly, the Indian chieftains are better in that range anyway, hd is playing catch up with the m8. Maybe later in life. Not now though, id rather have the raw experience than ride a laz-e-boy.

Thats how i feel. I love having the stripped down, raw, dirt, wind, bugs in your face experience. Now if i were planning a trip to ride across the country that would be a different story...

Dude, if this is true for you, you can't ride worth **** and belong on the couch you bought.

could you imagine the movie Easy Rider, as silly and pointlesss as it was, with those two dude on fully faired touring bikes instead of the stripped down monsters they had? They'd need to change the name of the movie to Pampered Rider or Fried Green Tomatos

a 883 you will but a 1200 not really . Glad I got a 1200 the bike still feel like I need a 6th gear , I would never have that issue on a 883.

I see the sporty/fx gulf as essentially one of styling - and the sport is less stable and the 1200 XL faster, than the FX - but if I had to choose between them...bigger and fatter and more stable - the faster part is fixable - but imho unnecessary.

Me? Get a cherry FX that's not an orphan - 1999 ? Carb-a-tooted and old but cherry.
