Don't give her any of the narrow perches shown above or you will soon be riding solo once more......
Leave her home and enjoy your ride. My bike is not for the comfort of a passenger I built it for me. Bring her in your cage.

I have a Sundowner I took off my '14 Custom (has the 4.5 gallon tank). Photos below. If you need something else let me know.

I wonder what changed between 06-07. Harley only offers 1 seat for the 06 but a bunch for the 07 and up. That Sundowner looks like it would be comfortable for the passenger.
i'm giving serious thought to the Mustang solo tripper. What would you want for the sundowner if i decide to go that route?

As far as we know, the only change in 2007 is Harley moved the ECM to the fender. In 2010 they moved it away from there, largely due to it interfering with seat installation. Seats that fit a 2007-2009 Sportster ought to fit all Sportsters 2004-present, depending on the tank size of course.

"violent acceleration of a 1200" is that a thing?

It's not doing me any good sitting in a plastic bag on a shelf in the garage so PM me an offer I can't refuse. I looked on the bottom for a part number and the only thing I can find is a stamp on the vinyl - 16405164 - which does not seem to be valid on the HD site.

There is also a number molded into the pan, RDW-92/61-0067 which probably has nothing to do with the actual seat part number.

Attaching photos of the bottom and the stamped number on the vinyl just in case you'd need them.

Cheers

Looking at the area of that seat pan that would be near the front of the fender, I don't see any sort of recess. This leads me to believe this seat won't fit '07-09 models unless the ECU is relocated. But I can't say 100% based on the photo.

You may be right (and please accept my sincere "thank you" for adding your expertise to the discussion). I was hoping to be able to look up the part number on this seat to see applications/fitment but that did not work out.

I did take a couple more photos of the bottom of the seat looking from the rear mount in the hope that maybe it would help. The lower photo is from a shallow angle looking from the rear mount, the upper photo is from the same perspective but more above the seat.

BTW, Mustang seats are awesome! I have the wide touring on mine and love it!

It's so hard to tell. If you know someone with a stock '07-09 Sportster (this will fit with any tank) that would tell the tale for certain.
