I believe Law Enforcement use it as an indicator that a full stop was completed or not. They may testify that "as the rider approached the Stop sign, he failed to put his feet on the ground and continued through the intersection without coming to a full stop". The rider may or may not be able to convince the Judge that it is un-necessary to put your feet down to come to a full stop, or that the pause was the "functional equivalent" to a full stop.

2002 XL1200 Sporty, that being said, Slammer kit, same La Para seat as shown, great, I'm 5'2" and feet fit flat footed. Yes it's a stiff ride, but I have an Iron butt. It's a trade off that's worth it to me. So far longest run is 2 hrs and I could probably last at least an other hr before a rested butt is needed

Cruiser type motorcycles are not the only game in town.

Sport bikes, sport touring, adventure, retro sport, dirt etc etc. Riders are not flat footed with both feet down on any other style of motorcycle. Short people having been riding all types of motorcycles for over 100 years. I read a thread like this and all I want to say is, hardin up for **** sake and deal with it.

Well put. I've been riding for half of those 100 years and cannot 'flat-foot' any of my current bikes, except the Sporty. Flat-footing has only been around as a concept for a short while. There are darned good reasons why we shouldn't flat-foot on a bicycle, just as there are for a motorcycle.

Why deal with it when there are so many other options. If some people like standing on their toes, great. that doesn't make them right or wrong. I prefer more control. My first bike was a 57 pan head so seems like low bikes have been around for awhile. as long as there have been rigid framed bikes, people have been flatfooted. how long has that been? i don't know. at least 70 yrs.
And actually, you should be flat footed over the frame on your bicycle at a stop. I'm an avid bicyclist and if a shop fit you differently, they don't know what they're doing.
