Default Need help with fuel pump issue...

I have an 07 Dyna that I just put an EFI Sportster tank on with a 08 1200 fuel pump. I ran it when it first started and it was fine. I had it all the way thru the revs in all gears up to top speed. As of yesterday, it'll run for different amounts of time before the pump shuts off. I have the pump on a separate on/off switch for it and the pump works when it wants. I've searched for answers but without coming up with anything. When it pumps everything is fine, it'll just shut off at different times. I've checked and rechecked all the wiring and fuses and even ran it direct to the battery and it does the same thing. Is this a "thing" or I just have a bad intermitten pump?

When you say you have wired it directly to the battery that should eliminate the normal suspects such as the fuel pump relay and the start/stop switch on the right grip.
Looking at the fuel pump diagram it appears that the power wire goes directly to the pump motor then back out to ground, when you wired it directly to the battery did you wire BOTH the power and ground? if no try that as a bad ground could stop the power flow even though you have power to it.
If it still fails with BOTH power and ground wired directly to the battery then I would suspect a failure in the pump motor itself.

Yes. It was wired directly to the battery.

I can't find a wiring diagram for the pump itself but looking at the images of the pump it looks like some have a wiring connector on the end of the motor and some look like the two wires have crimp connectors. Also some look like one of the wires goes to a large round piece mounted on the filter which might be a pressure sensor or high pressure limit switch.
I would say it's time to remove the pump and check those connections, if they look good I'd try to bench test it in a bucket of water or some other non-flammable liquid.

I couldnt find one either. It has a 4 wire connector at the end. I'm gonna try to run a relay first. Then take it out and see what's what.
