I haven't figured out how to find my codes yet, will work on that tomorrow. My battery terminals melted. I have searched for wire shorts with now luck. I tried starting tonight with a car battery hooked up, it turned over but not very strong like it was a close to dead battery. During that time the rubber jacket on the positive clip started to melt. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Given a constant load (the starter), as battery voltage drops, current flow (amps) increases. More amps = more heat at the weakest link, in this case that's the battery cables assuming the cable connections are tight.
As for finding your codes, there are instructions in a "Sticky" thread at the top of this section.

Don't be distracted by the jump-start, that sounds like a dead end to me. If your battery terminals began to melt there is a serious short somewhere on your bike. That may be in the battery itself. Take it to a local auto parts store and get it checked over. It may be knackered and unusable, but you want to know if it suffered an internal short.
Next task is to check your bike, to see if any harm has been done. You need a multimeter, or someone who knows how to use one. Check your bike for continuity across the battery cables, ignition off, then on, etc. I wouldn't add a new battery until you are confident the bike's electrics are OK - they may be fine, but do check.
