Well I did the rejetting the other day and it ran like a champ! Drove it that day, all good, drove it home from work last night, outside temp around 57 . This morning took a little rid and after she warmed up...out side temp 65 she started to stumble. It got worse, and stalled at a light. Wasn't easy to start. Couple yards down the road I pulled into a parking lot got on my back and gave the mix. Screw a1/4 turn out thinking since the rejetting it needed more fuel. Got it home and started from scratch. Screw in till it seated and back it out as a base setting 1 and 3/4 turn out. Took it for a ride around my development and less than 1 mile she crapped out and had to push her to my house and now no matter what I adjust on the fuel mix. Screw she will not start. One time smoke came out from the a/c , another she coughed, and one time a LOUD back fire from the exhaust pipe. Still can't get her to run. Any ideas? She has new plugs, new 93 octane fuel I even took off the breather can and cleaned it also. Can't under stand what could have gone wrong....from running great to no start.

 

Take the plugs out and post a pic.

 

You can check to see if the carb is getting fuel by removing the air cleaner and looking into the carb throat as you twist the throttle open. You should see fuel squirt from the brass tube marked by the yellow arrow. If you don't get a good squirt of fuel as you twist the throttle, the fuel bowl on the carb if likely not filled.

If that's the case, make sure the vacuum line to the petcock is attached and not split or cracked.

rear jug light color and front.. little dark. Will check vac hoses for leaks. when I get her going again I will add new plugs

 

wouldn't hurt to pull the float bowl an look for debris in there...it could be blocking jets an make sure the fuel hose isn't kinked.

No fuel being delivered , nada. Ign.on, gas on and tried to start her trotled up on the throttle to look at the jet ....but no gas. Vac. Hoses intact also

 

Well I ordered the rejetting kit from CVP , the bike is 2002 w/ 53k on her so I ordered all new slide/diaphragm, etc. everything I need to totally rebuild that carb from them, didn't want to put more money into the carb but the more down time is less ride time so mind as well do it right and get'er back to new and not have to worry about any more carb problems. $130.00 For rejetting and all other parts vs $350 - $500 for new carb, ok w/ me. Well hope all this I'm doing to the bike will let me ride for a good while w/ no problems....who knows!

 

Is the slide supposed to go up and down when throttling up and down, cause it doesn't when I'm twisting The throttle. What makes it move?

 

it wont move if it is not running. vacuum differential is what moves it. If it aint running, there is no vacuum to pull it open.
