I'm not surprised. Until the Nightster, most of the Sportsters came from the factory with passenger pegs. The 883 and 883L were the only models that were the exceptions. So, until the Nightster, Isuspect there just wasn't enough demand for the secondary market to respond.

 

i just went to my dealer last thursday and picked up a set, no problems. walked in empty handed and walked out with a pair. and i found out i get 10% off cause i bought my bike there too.
