Default Set of tires

Hey guys,

I just got a new sportster 883 that converted to 1240cc.

I'm going for a tracker style.

I have 21inch on front and 18inch rear.

I found it hard to get the right set of tire that I want.

I live in Los Angeles California, I will mostly ride the road and canyon (that has some gravel sometimes)

Looking for trust tires.

I'm looking for :

-Dunlop K70 but no 21inch front

http://motorivista.com/yamaha-xs650-...hand-cycles-3/

Dunlop came with DT3 but again no 21"

I don't want chinese tires.

What about Trailmax?

Somebody has Pirelli?

Can I mix Dunlop TR91 90/90 21" front & Dunlop K70 4.00 18" ?

If not I will look for Dunlop Harley D402 wich is classic but I look for the style and performance.

On this model, what is the best one that give most traction and stability on road?

Thanks~

Those tyres trace their origins back to the '60s or '70s, when a 21" wheel was not common, except on off-road bikes. A ribbed tyre is the more natural pairing to that style of rear tread pattern. Avon make both front and rear with their Speedmaster. A K91 would probably work with a K70, but they would clash in appearance! Bear in mind that all the major brands make a wide variety of tyres, so take a look at Bridgestone, Continental, Metzeler, Michelin, etc.

Thanks for your answers.

@grbrown
I have some speedmaster on my other Sportster and I found that on the freeway it makes it wiggle cause it follow the stripes from the concrete and not at all feel safe on the road.
Love the look for the street tho.

I don't mind a "big" tire on the back but not a big fan of chunky on front.

@drinktothat421
Thanks for the infos.
Your front tire is too fat for me.

I like the Bridgerstone G515

But overall I think I'm gonna go for the Dunlop Made for HD and get the safest ride to enjoy the most my motorcycle.

What is the bottom steel sheet on the frame

Please check your tyre pressures on your other bike! Avon tend to recommend higher pressures than stock tyres, so you may be running them too low. Worth making sure and may improve your experience! I've been riding my Harleys on Avons since the 1970s, they are that good!

I have Avon Cobras on my King and they're a good balance of grip and stability in both wet and dry. I'm looking at getting some replacements for my Custom soon, so am looking into the Cobras.

Definitely check the psi on your Avons, as they do require higher psi as already mentioned. Also skinny tires do get a bit squirrely on those freeway grooves.

that is not my bike, but it is a "skid" plate. however i do have a black skidplate on my 48. mainly looks and for whatever reason something were to hit the bike there you would have protection
