Default Le Pera question

Hey Gang,

Quick one (or maybe not) for ya:

I'm considering the the Le Pera Aviator seat to replace the stock seat on my '04 XL883. If you have or have had one, can you tell me the seating position from stock? Also, would the Aviator Up Front push me too far forward (I'm 5'10") with forward controls?

I want to know because the stock seat doesn't seem bad for seat position (although slightly forward would seem nice), it's more that the padding and overall comfort of the stock seat aren't there. I don't want to go as minimal as the bare bones but I also don't want full touring either. I also want a touch behind my butt to keep me in place.

Let me know what you think and thanks for your help!

Yes the aviator will push you forward a little. Good back support. More comfortable than stock. It also raised me a little so I went with a lower profile seat. Personally did not like the look of back portion of the seat.

The LePera is a bit firmer than most seats, so if you like something firm then LePera is good.

I agree with hscic on the comfort. Here's the seat on my Custom with mid controls. I'm 5'6" and it's a great seat for me.

Ok, thanks HSCIC and RKZen. So just a quick follow up, are the seats pictured the standard Aviator or the Up front version?

I have the standard Aviator on my Custom. If you order direct from LePera, you can customize the cover and stitching and get a gel pad insert if you wish. Nice people to work with. They also have a try it first policy (albeit uncovered) just in case you want to make changes, like narrow the neck, etc.

Alright guys, now I'm thinking what i really want is a Bare Bones. Can any of you tell me about ride position compared to stock?

A bit lower, and you can't push back as far. On my Iron, that is. It's vastly more comfortable than stock, and gives a more stable seat, if that makes sense.

Later!
