I went with the slash outs on my nightster as the stock were slash out as well. You can see what they look like in my album. I love them.

For every person you find here that likes one of the options, you will probably find another that likes the opposite. Do what YOU think looks the best, that's what really matters.

I prefer the 'baloney cut' (slash out) over the slash down models.

I think they look better (just a personal preference), to me they sound a little better (sound waves not bouncing back off the pavement), and on dirty/dusty streets and roads they won't blow as much stuff off the pavement and on to your bike.

Didn't have them on my Sportster, but I have the original 'not for road use' SE's on my Softail, and I think they sound and look great..

I too like baloney cut, that's what I had in the past. Please don't buy what we like, buy what YOU LIKE.

I prefer the slash out (baloney) cut for fuctional purposes.

I live on a gravel road - half mile to the pavement.
Had downward pointed pipes on a rental I snagged for a few days last year and even just putting down the road at minimum speed the dust cloud puffing behind me was more than I wanted. The volume of air out the pipes doesn't seem that much, but when it's dry here the surface gets a little powdery and - yeeesh!!
