Default Directional Switch Replacement

The right side directional switch on my 2005 XL1200R appears to be "frozen". When I attempt to push it, it is just jammed, and won't move in or out. Anyone run across this before? Am I looking at the need for a directional switch replacement, or is it possible something has it jammed that can be cleared? I have loosened the control module, but that doesn't give me any switch movement. If anyone has replaced the directional switch, is it as much a pain in the **** as is replacing the front brake switch?

I haven't run into that problem before, but if loosening the switch housing doesn't relieve the binding, it's very likely a bad switch.
