I looked at the Pirelli website, it recommends 2.0 Bar front 2.7 Bar rear.

That's 30 psi and 40 psi. Where do people get the 38 psi from?

The tires dont like being at 30. You'll get cupping and funny wear.

I'm taking your's and cHarley's advice on the 38/40 pressure over the Pirelli site. Just wanted to note that I did find a recommendation from Pirelli.

Here's an Update!

Just got a call from Frank at Pirelli/Metzeler. I left a message on Sunday about tire pressures. He said 38-42 FRONT, and 40-42 REAR. He said the website numbers are incorrect!

I guess that clears it up for me!

cvaria's numbers are pretty close. For your tire sizes, Pirelli recommends them at 2.5bars for the front and 2.7bars for the rear.

That's in line with other brands, so well done for getting to the bottom of this.

+! - The stock Dunlop 401/402 (400 series) seem to be about the only tires that are spec'd to run at the lower psi. All of the good alternative tires I've checked seem to be spec'd for a higher psi. I've always suspected the lower psi spec was Harley's attempt to make the ride less harsh.
