Rear fender modification

Rear fender modification
Ok, so I want to bob my rear fender on my 1998 Sportster 1200C, nothing special or too insane, just chop it a little bit to thin the overall appearance of the rear end out.
Has anyone come across tips or instructions, or is it as simple as I think?
All I figure I'd have to do is :
-get a new tail light
-relocate thebracket for the plate
-chop the fender struts
-drill new holes for everything
-and repaint...
is it reasonable to believe that this is it? or is it more complicated than that?
I've modified cars and trucks before, but this is my first bike...so input would be appreciated.

RE: Rear fender modification
It is actually really simple. Depending on how far you cut back, you don't have to cut the fender struts at all. Also, depending on where you mount your tail light, be aware that you may lose your rear mount for a 2-up seat.
I simply picked up another fender and decided where I wanted to cut. I used some painter's tape to mark the cut line and went at it.
If you are good at making the cut you may be able to get away with a little touch-up pant for the raw edge. Here's a buddy holding it up for the pic:
