The 2016 bikes here in North Dakota already went down 1000 bucks. You live in a place where you can ride most of the year. Wait for the 2017 to come out hen go back and make the same offer.

Consider that the 2017 models will release next Tuesday. What do you think?

Thank you.
First, are you offering cash? or are you offering to let them finance?

Second, approach them with 9,100.00 OTD. (Give in a little)

Your salesman needs to get another sale this month, help him make the deal.

Other dealers across the state will have bikes they need to move.
They make less profit on the Iron 883 than they do off of their so called premium lines, so every inch you give them helps a lot at the table.

They want your business.
All businesses need cash flow.
No-one will lose money to make you a new owner, but most sales teams will have a breaking point that is lower than what they deem comfortable Lowballing them has a threshold and when you go below their threshold they sometimes get a donkey attitude. Look at the 750's then come back to the 883. It is sometimes a game and a challenge. The good thing is there are a LOT of used Harleys with very low mileage to choose from and 9,000.00 will buy a LOT of Harley if you shop and are willing to deal with the previous owners..

Some are really willing to take a huge hit just to quiet the wife and free up the garage..

Once you get a brand new Harley home, it has entered the used world and can not go back to being new no matter how hard you try.

My guess is the dealer will make you a counter offer.
If not, it is their loss.

going through a credit union get you a low rate, ~1.99, and gives you cash haggle abilities.

yeah, I did talk with them like a couple hours (they even called their manager to talk with me when I walk away).
I make it clear to them that I will take bike home if they make it $9k (cash or finance, what ever they want) plus give me credit just enought to buy a helmet and passenger seat.

They said my number is not "realistic"!

You now know what that dealer wants for the Iron. Check other dealers (even if you have to drive a little) if they can beat it. Might not get that $9K + gift card OTD, but I'm sure other dealers can come close.

Default I'd buy used

Hello, there are always good used sportsers for a lot cheaper. I myself, bought a 2007 xl 883 standard for 3700 last summer with 350 miles on it. It's fi and rubber mounted and came with updated pipes and filter, and some rear progressive springs. Cheaper in tax and no dealer fees. It left me with $ to get a nice Memphis shades windshield and Vance and Hines big black radius pipes, a fuel motto tuner , a hd detachable rack, a hd swing arm bag, a nice aftermarket solo seat, hd black crash bars, a pair of long stem live to ride mirrors. Some of those parts I bought here saving even more. I still have to install my own bigger handlebars and steel brake and throttle lines and front springs.. I'm very happy and if I get a hammer 1250 kit it still will be thousands cheaper than buying new. Good luck in whatever you chose

You can do better on price, just hold firm. Call another dealer and tell them you want to trade your 2016 on something and see what its worth for trade.

I just traded my 2015 Iron and the ABS and Security saved me on trade value. Anyway, I think you can get those two options for the kind of money you're talking about.
