Default Should I go for "S.E. Street Performance Tuner"?

I am ready for Stage 1 upgrade on my 2016 883. I received a quote from the dealer, which mainly includes 3 major parts
- V&H Shortshots Staggered 2:2
- Screamin' Eagle airbox
- Screamin' Eagle Street Performance Tuner

I like V&H and am okay with SE airbox, but i am not sure the tuner is good or not. I saw V&H has its own branded tuner on Amazon and it's rated very high.

1. would a tuner make a difference? why?
2. should a tuner be left connected after tuning, or disconnected and taken away after job done?

Thank!

I think you are going to want the screamin eagle race tuner. My understanding is the street tuner is a lot more limited in its ability to tune

For all i know, you cant get wrong with the power vision. I cheaped out on my tuner and kind of regret it. And of c ourse a harley styealer will push the screaming eagle brand. Air cleaner are mostly the same, but a good tuner will make or break your stage one.

The power vision is the best out there in my opinion.

Here is a LINK with some really good info on Stage I upgrades.

All exhaust, all air cleaners, and all tuners are NOT the same, and can yield pleasantly surprising increases in performance or disappointing results, and anywhere in between.

To answer your questions:

1. A great tuner, like the Power Vision or FP3 will make a significant difference.

If you open up your air cleaner and exhaust and don't change the tune (with a tuner) your already very lean factory tune will be even more lean and will run worse than if you left everything stock, plus it will decrease the longevity of your engine.

2. A tuner can stay connected or be put away after tuning, just depends on if you want to do any auto-tuning, or use it as a gauge console. There is not a "should" or "should not", just depends on your preference.

Street Tuner is kinda weak. Very limited.
The Super Tuner is better but not as good as the V&H FP3.
If you are dead set on HD products go with the Super Tuner. A couple hundred bucks more than the Street Tuner but if your paying for pipe's and air cleaner it's worth the extra $$.

Thanks everyone. I will give up Street Performance Tuner for sure. I will pick up one from other options you have suggested.
Thanks Kevin for the links, they are very useful. I am working on them...
