That's smart. Also I'm careful after a downpour. Often sand, gravel, etc... is washed into the road in places you don't expect.

I guess my cutoff of 50% is just an arbitrary line I made for myself to minimize getting caught at work waiting for storms to pass.

The car isn't really an option for me as although I get a parking space at work, I'd have to pay the congestion charge to drive in London which is over £10 a day and I'd probably use the same again in petrol, where as SuperCommuterScooter costs just under £4 a day in fuel and isn't subject to the highway robbery, sorry, congestion charge. No brainer.
I think you were right the first time. £10 a DAY??.....

If you don't mind your bike getting rained on. I always wash and detail mine after getting caught in rain. I wouldn't leave the house if it is already raining. 30% chance, I would go for it figuring it probably wont rain. 50% It might, it might not. I would probably not ride in 50% chance, but to each their own. I never thought rain riding was any kind of fun. When I ride in rain, it is because I get caught in it. I have ridden in some good summer thunderstorms before.

50% and not raining I set out. Rain - I stay home. Out in the rain everything's slower and cornering is steady to slow. No rain but wet roads is almost as bad. There may be fuel underneath. Watch out for metal covers. Cleaning the bike is a pain afterwards. Am retired now so ride almost always in the dry but here in South Wales it rains a lot so sometimes you just got to get out! The forecast is my oracle - as far as you can trust anything!

If it isn't raining when I leave I ride, regardless of weather forecast.

If I'm going on a trip or agreed to ride with someone, I ride no matter what.

Yeah 50% and I'm not risking it... I'm not diehard either though...

What if it's 100% chance of rain, but though the sky is low and dark, it hasn't actually begun pouring down rain yet?

Me too. 20% no problem. 30% with minor reservations. 40% gotta really think about it. 50% probably not.

Check the hourly forecast first. I'm off at 230 and the rain chances are low and temps are under 95 degrees, bike it.
Houston rain showers hit normally after 4 pm during the summer months.
50% chance of rain all day in Houston freeways are suicidal even for a car.

Yup. If you want to drive in our Capital City during certain hours, then that's what you pay. That assumes you have a vehicle that is compliant for the LEZ (Low Emission Zone)... https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/low-emission-zone
