Default Bolt Do More Than The Obvious? (OTR)

Hey y'all, is look in my manual but I'm on the road at a stop and can't. I felt a rattle in my right mid peg. Pulled over at convenience and noticed the exhaust mount bolt directly under the peg had backed itself out behind the belt cover. Does this bolt do anything other than holding the slip on in place?

That's what it do. Odd, it looks like the stock nut, which should be self locking. The footpeg mount is held by a nut inside the sprocket cover. That must come off to tighten it up if it were to loosen.

Yeah the exterior nut is still in place. The bolt itself came loose. Is it just a nut on the back of the plate or does it actually thread into something?

Not a full answer but it is a nylon lock type nut. Replace it when you get the chance. They are one time use for secure reliability.

It just threads into the right case half IIRC.

Yep. It's a stud in the case. If it is loose, you'll have to be careful to get it out.
