Hello Fellow Members, I just got a sportster from Japan and naturally my manual is in Japanese. My problem is checking the oil level, this is how my dipstick looks,
BBBBBBBHBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBHHH. The H represents the line in the bottom of the dipstick and the 3 H on the top, not so visible at the top though. Where should the oil level be? Within the bottom line, which means the bottomline is maximum, or should it be in between the bottom and upper line? It's level now is below the bottom line. What happens if i put too much oil.? please help. thanks

 

I'd say right in the middle of all your "B's" between the "H's". You don't want too little, and too much will just belch out...

 

I keep mine 1/4 - 1/3 over the fill line. Once up to 1/2 way or more between the fill & full line I start to get blow-by.

 

I also keep mine about 1/4 of the way up from the bottom.
