Maximum time 'on clutch'
#12
I had been riding bikes for many years before I took lessons on driving a car. My instructor told me that car drivers were not taught to use engine breaking, by changing down through the gears when driving a manual transmission. He was surprised that I was routinely changing down through the gears and I had to explain to him how a bike trans works! I got through my driving test by driving a car like a bike.
Scoobie, for Pete's sake drive in gear, there's a good chap. One new clutch throw-out bearing in 115k miles is not a catastrophy and doesn't warrant changing how you drive, especially if you bought your car secondhand. We have no control over how a PO may have driven.
