I saw that to and might be the deal breaker for me as well. However, I found a picture of a guy that had the Throwback seat with a sissy bar on a Seventy Two. I emailed Mustang and asked for some clarification. I'll let you know what they say.

Here's what I ended up with. Not sure how it will "weather"... fiberglass pan, and the covering is presumably cheap vinyl. I had to dremel off a LOT of the nose of it to make it fit. I'm happy with it, esp since it was only $90.
If the Throwback will accommodate my sissybar it'll be my backup plan if this one fails on me. So far so good though.
