RE: which oil do you run??
What's the name of the "independent lab?"
I took the pumkin cover off my old '83 S10 pickup once years ago, when it was about 16 years old or so (I bought it in '89), to change the differential oil in it for the first time, ahem, and when I did I found a red-looking oil in it and the gears all looked brand-new with no wear lines on them whatsoever and the gearbox looked like it had just been cleaned in solvent, it was that clean.
I called up my friend about it, who is married to the sister of the guy I bought the truck from, and he told me that it was Redline synthetic gear oil, that the guy put it in all of his vehicles and 18-wheelers.
Ever since then I've been sold on Redline and synthetic oil, and I've never used anything but synthetic since.
That's a testI can rely on with my own eyes. I'm not knocking Amsoil, but I've never used it and I've had nothing but good results from using Redline. I wouldn't be afraid of using Amsoil, though.

Walmart is selling Mobil 1 motorcycle oil as well, now, at Walmarts that carry cycle gear. I think it's the cheapest I've seen as well in my parts. They're even selling filters and such as well.
I've never even seen Amsoil anywhere where I'm at, but I would imagine it's around if I looked hard enough.
Anyone ever hear of Rev Tech or use it? An American Ironhorse shop nearmy area sells it and swears by it.

I use Mobil 1 v twin 20w50 for the oil and primary holes. I can only find it at Autozone for $7.99 a quart and I never call them anymoreto ask if they have it because they always say no, then I go into the store myself and there it is either by the motorcycle stuff or on an end cap.
I checked all the local Wal Marts and none of them had it. Kind of sucks that it is so hard to find. Would be nice to be able to find it easily if you were on a trip and needed some.
