Thinking about a Sporster as a second bike

RE: Thinking about a Sporster as a second bike
As others have said, the sportster is so much narrower that the height is misleading. I have a 99 sporty which I lowerred for less than $100 without replacing the shocks. It sits lower than my 06 Road King CLassic I just bought. The two rides are a perfect compliment. I now feel like I can throw the sporty around while before thought it felt like a BIG bike. Both rides are great.

I have a 2001 Road King, and a Kawasaki 1500 vulcan. I'm looking to get rid of the Vulcan and maybe replace it with a new 1200 Sportster. I haven't sat on one yet or ridden one, but I am concerned about the seat height. The Harley web site lists the height as quite high. I know seat heights can be deceiving. Anyone have any thoughts on this.

If you're not having any struggles with the King, you'll be just fine with the Sporty.
It is imho the perfect combo.
Enjoy.

My 2003 1200 XLH is as high as they come at almost 28". Although I want to lower it a bit in both the front and back, I have no problem straddling the bike flat footed at 5'9". My wife is going to take the MSF Basic Riders Course. And, if she ends up not really wanting her own bike, then I am thinking instead of getting a second bike for her, look for a touring bike for a second. The Sportster for when I am zipping around town and a touring bike for when we are out for longer rides togther. I would really like to have another bike and my Sportster. Goodluck.
