Why would people rather use there pistons than there brake pads to slow down????[&:] i would think the brake pads are easier to and cheaper to change out than your pistons and what not.
i never do it in my cars and will never do it on my harley.

blackie, I always downshift to slow down my bike, I do have more control over it. I am always in right gear for the speed, in case something happen around me, I can take off right away. What if you slow down your bike from 60mph/5th gear to a stop, when you need power to go again, you have to shift down to the right gear. Let's say you see a stop sign ahead and slow down to 20mph with applying your brake, suddenly you hear a big bang coming from your back, now you want to take off asap and found you are in the wrong gear, not enough time to shift. You sit there and hope nothing is gonna hit you from behind. Do you get my point? Well off topic.......
