Default stage 1 advice

getting my v&h straightshot slip ons put on this weekend and keep reading about the stage 1 and thinking about maybe doing that as well, if i have the money. the installation of the pipes is free because the guy that services my bike is going to install them for me, so that gives me a lil extra to work with.

my question is what would i need to buy for the stage 1? i know the stealership is going to charge me out the **** to do it most likely but im just looking at cost of what i need right now.

i see that the SE air kit is $140...what else do i need? and any idea how much labor im going to be charged? just to prepare myself..lol

New carb jets and one hour of labor is what I was quoted. The jets are running me $8.

The kit you need is in the Screamin Eagle catalog, not the regular one. It still runs $139.95.

It will about $250.00 parts and labor for the SE kit and re-jet at a dealer.

If you're putting on the pipes, you might as well get the stage 1 done at the same time, or you'll be back to have it done in a few weeks

If your doing the work yourself find a indy shop that specializes in racing dirt bikes. The Sporty has a Mikunui carb as do most of the import dirt bikes. I got the jets and needles for about 3-4 dollars apiece.

I just put on some slips...Rineharts on an 07 night. I didn't think I would need to do anything because I didn't change the A/C....BUT, I was wrong. By adding just the slips I really leaned out the fuel which caused some crackling and backfiring. I got the stage 1 today and it took away the backfiring and some of the crackling. There is still some cracks on decel but it's something I can live with. When I can afford it I'm going to do it right and get the SERT or another FMS.
Just my $.01
