Default fast idle

hi, after the bike being stored over the winter, placed a fully charged battery on it,fired it up and it just revs away instead of settling down to tick over, since last july it has done no mileage, any ideas anyone.the bike is a 1200 sportster custom 9 yrs old, 6000 miles on the clock.

Also check your throttle cables, that they are seated correctly at both ends (of both of them). This is something simple, be assured. Make sure the twistgrip is closing fully as well.

I'm just thinking because it has sat, then somethings just seized and needs a little push, pull and lubing.

I know your is on the cusp of either being fuel injected or carbed. I can't remember what year it changed over.

This is why preemptive checks and services, and an initial cold-weather ride should be standard practice. Get the jinks out of the way before warm weather kicks off.

Hope it doesn't set you back too much or take too long.
