Does the guy at the dealership work on commission? Does he even ride, or does he spend all of his time on the sales floor?
IMO a tuner will help out even a stock bike run better. Without a tuner the "Short Shots" will probably get a lot of decel popping, and the won't perform as well as they should. That's it and nothing else. The pipes without a tuner won't mess up the bike.
Fuel Moto makes a Micro EFI which will help your bike run much better then stock. FM has unlimited map support, and their Micro unit can store 3 separate maps, and you switch them with the turn of a dial. Best tuner for the $$$ out there. Under $200 http://www.fuelmotousa.com/series-19...efi-tuner.html
About a 2-3 beer install time for first timers.
Buy the tuner first, then pipes, & air cleaner last.
Fvck going to the "Stealership" to get non warranty work done..

+1 Guzzi,
Can't speak to a 883 but I just purchased a used (2K miles) 1200 48.
I installed a K&N performance intake system and drilled baffles in stock mufflers. Ran ok but lean surge and lean popping on decel. V&H fuel pak, installed a tune for baffled mufflers and AC setup, run and rides like a new bike, much smoother also. Removed the fuel pak until want to change map next time.
The stock system using narrow band O2 sensors has little range of adjustment in the stock EFI system.
With changes that lean the system farther than the stock lean one comes from factory, it COULD do harm when it really gets hot out.
"dealer guy" would love to repair your engine I bet.
Just some thoughts.
