Default Brake line question

I have searched the forums and didnt see a clear cut answer so once again i will just ask so i can get this brake line.

I have a 2012 iron 883. I am putting on a set of 10inch z bars from licks. I called magnum shielding but had no clue what size brake line i needed. Anyone have a 2012 iron that has ordered a brake line from them or someone else and knows what size you need?
Also it appeared the build your own brake like was cheaper. Can anyone explain the process to the BYO and how hard it is. And special tools?

Thanks

might be better to ask if you need lines to begin with from those who have done the same upgrade. PM Dane M, he likes the wacky bars. Dane M.

Just from what i have heard you only need the brake line. Just by looking at it i dont believe i could even move my bars up one inch. The brake line is alreay close. On my iron its a 5 inch brake line which leads to a metal brake line that cant be moved then back to a hose all the to the wheel.

right. ask dne or someone with mini apes. the line kits are simple and you don't need anything other than basic hand tools. Wrenches, cheap metric and SAE sets from walmart, lol.
i can't help much since my kits were all goodridge kits meant to replace stock. the magnum kits are similar in that they are modular you only real issue is length from the M/C to the low portion of the line and how you plan on routing.

Maybe get some scrap tubing and a tape measure, use them to estimate your need. from grip to junction.

Would i be replacing from the handle bar to the metal line or all of the line

if your bike is stock. you are replacing the entire line. the stock line is one piece. see below:

there will be no funny business with hacking up the stock line, because your life matters. .

so the build a line will be two parts, one for the lower and the other for the upper. i (me)would just look for a longer line vs the build a line to cut costs and unnecessary points of failure. but either way, this brings you back you estimating your line length and routing path.
