Default Adding Apes to an '05 Roadster help re:brakes

Hey guys, so I found a similar topic but I'm hoping to hear from someone who has worked on my specific bike.

I want to put 12" apes on my 1200 Roadster(stock bars ATM) but am having trouble locating a cable kit that matches my bike due to the dual disc front brake. Has anyone else made this mod on an 04-06 Roadster? Did you find a kit that worked or have to build a brake kit yourself?

I initially used this kit: http://www.jpcycles.com/product/512-299 which the folks at JP cycles assured me was for dual disc, but when I brought it over to my mechanic he said it was not. Is the mechanic wrong or the parts people, I don't know! I've also emailed Burly to see if they have a solution for me.

Anyway, any help you guys can provide in the mean time is much appreciated.

Thanks

The illustration is for a single brake line, which plainly won't work for your bike. The list of bikes the kit is said to fit includes single rotor models as well as twin rotor models. I suggest you contact JP, as what they sent you is not suitable. You need a set of three hoses plus a junction piece to bring them all together, which normally fits under the bottom tree.

This is not the correct kit for your bike, but it does show a set of three hoses.

Thanks for the info grbrown. I was recommended to purchase a Burly cables kit and a separate a DIY brake kit:

Does this seem appropriate? I ask because this recommendation comes from one of the people I've already heard conflicting reports from. Thanks again

Unfortunately your link doesn't work. Personally I would buy a ready made kit. The lower caliper hoses are a standard length, regardles of bar height, only the top hose is different, to suit your bike. Look for Goddridge or HEL, which should come with new banjo bolts and copper seals, as a single package.

Hmm, dunno why the hyperlink doesn't work but this is the link:

https://www.denniskirk.com/magnum-sh...rd/1906794.sku

I've looked at the ready made kits, but most of the dual disc ones don't list my bike as compatible, though I suppose it might just be because its less common..

That link works, thanks, as also will the kit, which has all the things I mentioned earlier. An attraction of that is that you can cut the top line to match your bars. The caliper lines are just copies of what you currently have.
