Default Best seat for lower back support?

Hello all, I would like to know what seat/saddle I should look at for better lower back support, as well as overall comfort. I have a brand new 48 and am still using the stock seat (yeah I know it's terrible). I would like a solo (maybe a 2up) seat that is obviously more comfortable and offers lower back support as well (I have a herniated disc @ L5/S1 that just recently started bothering me again). I also plan on upgrading my tank eventually to at least the 3.4 gallon Nightster tank so the new seat will need to be compatible there as well. As always, thank you for the help!

I need to add that I don't want a seat that has an upright backrest option either, just don't care for the way they look on a sporty!

I've had good luck with my Mustang wide tripper. Not a luxery seat, but it looks great and gives good support.

You want looks or you want lower back support? Seats that offer good lower back support normally have higher backs. A good alternative is the Mustang Wide Tripper Solo with backrest....and yes, the backrest can be removed if you want looks. The backrest provides excellent lower back support. IMO the solo with backrest looks a lot better than one with a high back....spoils the lines of the bike.

I have the same damaged disc, as well as others. For me the most important thing is keeping my spine straight, almost arched, especially when hitting bumps, pot holes, etc. No seat really does that for you, it is up to you. A backrest adjusted forward helps. On my road king I use a Corbin solo with detachable backrest and I can ride damn near forever. On my 48 I don't think the stock seat is too bad if I don't slouch but keep my back vertical. However, I prefer riding the 48 with an HD spring solo because it keeps me from sliding back during acceleration. I think your best help would be to change shocks. Good luck.

Mustang Classic Solo. I rode 400 miles with no probs for my bad back. The most comfortable seat available for Sportsters.

The Mustang Classic Solo was a night and day difference for my back. Better/softer suspension would probably help too. The Progressive 412s have great reviews and aren't too expensive.

I forgot to mention that a kidney belt may also help the lower back. I have one but seldom use it because it is hot.

Is the Mustang Classic Solo the same as the Mustang Vintage Solo?

Thank you everyone for the advice and pics! So far out of everything pictured I am liking LifeStarts@40's seat and txfxstrider's seat. Looking at Mustang's site I really like the way the Fastback seats look. They appear to offer quite a bit of back support but they do not have any pics of them on the actual Sportster so it's kinda hard to say.

I was going to ask the same thing about the Mustang Classic vs. Vintage seats. Are they the same because I cannot find one labeled Classic Solo on Mustang's website?
