Default Common for new grips to lose glue quickly??

I have the HD Edge Cut grips on my sporty for maybe a year and a half and the last time I rode I went to take off and the throttle grip just spun almost 360 and didnt snap back approriately, I had to manually roll it back. I havent rode since and havent taken them off, I suspect its the glue anyways as the cables adjusted just fine, is this common or just a bad install? (PS I didnt do the install lol)

i'm guessing that your bike is a 2004+ but, can't make it out from the picture. i don't think there is glue under your throttle grip and housing. it's held on by tension/pressure from the bolts. there MAY be glue under your left grip though.

try---
  1. take apart the throttle control housing and review the status of things.
  2. look at the throttle cable ends and make sure nothing is broken.
  3. GO GET A SERVICE MANUAL!!!!

start with the easy stuff.

if that doesn't work out....

and... GO GET A SERVICE MANUAL!!!!

As mentioned, the throttle grip on a rubber mount is NOT glued on - only the left hand grip.

right. they started doing the left grip lock in on the switch housing like the big twins. that's why i said "may".

i was upset when i bought my dyna and found the the grips i bought at the dealer used the newer method. i pulled them off about a month later and used old school glue on left grip. i just like the simple old fat chrome capped grips and the HD "get-a-grip" grips were tearing up my gloves. in the pics below, you can see bits of my gloves caught in the knurled rubber of the grips.

So the throttle tube isnt glued to the grip? what would cause the throttle grip to spin like that? cables are adjusted properly.

no easy answer. we aren't with you and the bike. i would look at the tensioner aka "throttle friction screw". you have to do the work here.

This may help show how the grips are connected or adhered to the throttle tube. Yes they can lose adhesion and spin on the tube.
