Default 240.18 Series - can or no can?

I saw this deal on CL for a 240.18 series wheel and fender for a good price....

I know there are threads about installing wider tires but I'll ask again...is this possible on a Sportster and if so, is this a major undertaking? What's involved in a nutshell?

Thanks in advance for the input.

Wink

That's a very wide rim with a very low profile tyre on it. I don't recall seeing a Sporty thread installing a 240, but there is a taster here.

Thanks grbrown for finding that thread and video....I even posted a comment on that thread lol.

So I guess the answer is "can" BUT a major undertaking....don't have a welder or the equipment so properly resize the width of the swingarm. There are actually kits out there such as these http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-WIDE-TIR...25.m3641.l6368, but a bit pricey at $1150.

Scrub that idea..for now. Thanks for the reply

Talking

Not quite a bolt in!!!! There are threads about squeezing in a 170/180, which may keep you reasonably happy.....

build the ultimate bar hopper by handicapping your sportster. Or just buy a softail... comes pre-handicapped for free

you'd need all new docking hardware and more

Yeah I guess mods like this would significantly affect handling and remove the fun out of a sporty. Looks good though.
