Default new tires

I'm in need of a new set of tires. Thinking of running white walls. What are the best ones to get? My dealer only tries to sell me Michlein Scochers but I think maybe Dunlop402 s or Coker classics. I need something that will last high milage. Any response will be welcomed.

Be careful of concentrating too much on high mileage tires as they tend to be harder rubber and therefor less grip.
I did a lot of internet research and just ordered Metzler 888's in blackwall (they are available in whitewall) as they seemed to be a good mix of ride, traction and long life.

I can tell you the Scorcher's are a pretty good tire, and certainly better than the OEM dunlops IMO.

But I'd suggest Pirelli Night dragons if you want great performance and good wear. OR the Michelin Commander II's if you want a long lasting tire but not quite as sticky as the night dragons. I like the Commander II's and would probably run them if I just burned up miles in a straight line. But If you ride aggressively like I do get the night dragons, and while they still wear well, dont worry about wear worry about how well a tire sticks to the road when you're screaming through corners at tripple digit speeds.

But with a 48 and white walls your choices are pretty limited. But I'd consider the Shinko 777 tires if you have to have white walls.

All the major brands offer suitable tyres, many in white wall. As with other tyre threads, in the end you will have to make your own choice. After a few posts we will have referred you to all the usual suspects! My preferred brand is Avon, because they give a compliant and more comfortable ride than most others, also provide excellent grip in all conditions. As Hotlap rightly points out, high mileage tyres are a compromise - too much of one for some of us.

+1 on the Avons. I have them on my King (sig pic) and am very happy. Great on both wet and dry roads. My Sporty is coming up on needing new tires and am looking at the Avons as well.

+1 on Metzler 888s. Have them for more than 5k miles and very happy with the performance and grip.

OP - You do know that questions such as yours will attract responses advocating almost every brand people use. My advise will be to do your research and buy the ones that suit your riding style the best.
