Default 2005 883L warm up time...

with k&n a/f and screamin' eagle slip ons? Scootergrrls bike is extremely cold blooded and she farts quite a bit. I think the jetting has been changed too. When giving it full gas before it is warm is usually when it farts. Quite often when it farts it will die altogether. What should I do to alleviate this? I don't think the carb has been drilled but I would really like to alleviate this problem for her without taking it to the stealer. If I drill the carb will that help with my problem? Also, why does the air box have a flapper on it? What is the point of that? Bear in mind that she doesn't want to go any faster, but if it gets rid of the farts I am all for it.

If the mixture screw has not been drilled out I would not assume that the carb was rejetted. If the jets were done the job has done half a$$ed, Tuning the mixture screw is part of the process when you rejet the carb. I would pull the jets and check their size. Many people wind up with a 45 low and a few 46 or 48.

I agree with cHarley... follow this link which provides pictures of the the carb off of the bike. https://www.hdforums.com/m_190110/tm.htm

Get an inspection mirror, or perhaps even just look under the carb to see if the plug is still covering the idle mixture screw. If it's still there, follow the directions given by the link above and drill it out and readjust it. If you're going to drill the idle mixture plug, that means you'll also have easy access to the carb to unscrew the four screws on the bowl and check the jets... might as well do this as well. I have an 883c and am running a 45/180... which seems to be the "magic" 883 jets... of course, your results may vary... but I'd say that a large majority seem to find these the way to go with a aircleaner/exhaust mod.

My bike does not fart at all now and warms up MUCH quicker.
