Default Sporty seat for tall riders

I just picked up an'04 883 Custom for my wife (her first bike), and it has the standard two-up HD seat, forward foot controls. She is 6'00", (and I am 6'03", and may ride the bike occassionally as well). Looking for a seat (could be solo or two-up) that will sit a little further away from controls to allow stretching legs a bit more. I am looking at the Mustang vintage solo or maybe Sundowner. Can any of you taller riders tell me what you found to fit better than the standard HD seat? None of the dealers have anything in stock, and I hate to drop $$$$ only to find it may not be any better than stock. Thanks in advance for help, (and if there is the same thread already, sorry, please send link).

There is only so much area between the fuel tank and fender for a seat. You may lose seat comfort but gain leg room. I'm only 6' tall and find the bike fits me fine but I can understand what you would like. One option would be to fab up your own seat. I have done seat pans many times for my buddies.

Seat height wasn't an issue for me, but when I got the Sundowner I noticed it does move you back, and is about 1.5 inches higher. Which was good, since I'm 6'1".

Cool, thanks Randy, that's exactly what I wanted to know. Have to put that on her "wish list". I noticed that when I sat on/rode the bike, I was just too far forward, and the ideal position would have been half way between the front and rear rider's position. Sounds like the Sundowner would help. Since she is a couple inches shorter than I am, it won't be as bad for her.

Hey flying pilgrim, I am 6' 2" with an 05 883. what I did to save some cash is shave my 2-up seat. I just peeled off the pleather being careful with removing the staples, and used an electriccarving knife to cut out what I didn't need, then I used a sander to just smooth it all over, and restapled the pleather. It isn't as comfortable but still manageable, but it did push me back about 2 inches and dropped me another 1" or so. I also put a crash bar with some pegs on it to be able to stretch out a little further.
