My wife has a 2001 883 sporty with stock pipes and she wants louder pipes. Looking for suggestions on some decent pipes with a good sound. And will I need to rejet the carbs with the new pipes?

 

So I cannot answer much about the ins and outs and needs but the 04 883 I just picked up tonight has Vance & Hines and it's loud as fk and beautiful. My personal suggestion is go up on YouTube, listen a little around and read and see people's suggestions, granted it's different in person but it's gonna be the best way for you to get an idea of the sound you want.

 

Get a 1 3/4 hole saw and cut the weld on the baffle from the outlet end of the muffler. Take a needle nose and pull the baffle out. Don't even have to remove the mufflers. Total cost, less than $5. Takes about 3-5 minutes per muffler.
