Default Sportster 48 pillion seat

Hi, I'm currently on the look out for another seat (along with foot pegs) that I can quickly change out when I want to go a run with a passenger: does anyone know if this will fit my bike?

(Sorry I'm still quite new to this)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/111891393468
Thanks
David

Hi David from across the Irish Sea. You don't tell us what model and year your bike is! As for asking a passenger to sit on that, I suggest that if you want to impress you risk failure! I wouldn't sit on it and wouldn't ask anyone else to either. There are better options available. Swapping seats is easy and takes a few minutes, so we can have as many as we fancy!

This seat (Ebay UK) would be much more appropriate, #281920187506, in fact there are several of them on sale at present. Depending on your model there are also a few pillion seats that may fit behind your current seat, which are detachable.

Hi - thanks for your reply & info.
Sorry I should have added that it's a 2013 48, XL1200x
Yea I have to admit that I wouldn't fancy being a passenger on that style of seat either!

I like the look of that seat will do a bit of searching on eBay at prices etc - realistically I didn't wana spend tooo much as it would only be getting used now and again...

Thanks

Yea that's my thinking!!
Sorry for being a pain - I've asked this guy if he knows what it came off or if he had a part number for me to search but he wasn't able to give me much help, do you know if this eBay item number: 141886157738 would be suitable for a 2013 xl1200x?

No, I suspect that fits the solid frame bikes, pre-2004. Unless a seller states clearly what the part number is, the safest bet is to only buy stuff you can have high confidence in. IIRC you are looking for one that fits 2007 and later.

What seat do you currently have?

IMO Pillion pad seats are emergency seats only - the pillions lack comfort for your passenger.

If you want your passenger to return for a second ride - agreed - better options - such as to buy a two up one piece seat and then switch seats when necessary.

Many options for comfortable two up seat - do a search.

Good luck in your decision.
