Lowering Kit Questions
I recently installed the HD Profile rear lowering kit on my Sporty, a plain jane 06 XL883. It consisted of the rear shocks and a shorter jiffy stand. I installed it both for cosmetic (like the lower look) and functional (feet on the ground) purposes. If I understand correctly, these parts are stock on the "Low" model. I have come across a matching "New Old Stock" kit for the front ie: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LOWERING-KIT...pWWdCD&vxp=mtr
I was reading the installation instructions and noticed it stated that the rear kit I already installed was "required" if I used the front kit. I was curious why the rear kit instructions never made any mention of having to install the front kit.
SO, I was wondering if the front kit would reduce the fork travel length or simply lower the front end to match the rear?
Is my bike in its current configuration, lowered rear/stock front height, unsafe to ride? I generally understand the concept of the geometry change (More rake ?) I introduced to the bike, but I'm not a good enough rider to really notice any change in the handling.
Any opinions/advice/tips would be deeply appreciated. Thanx in advance.

I have a Low and lowered my bike using the burly slammer kit. Because I have a Low, it lowered it only 1" from 11 1/2 to 10 1/2. According to an independent certified mechanic, you can ride with only rear lowered which gives it more of a chopper look. He said front was not required but since I like it lowered evenly and I needed to plant my feet, I did the front springs. Hard to tell difference in ride but since you are shortening the travel, I am sure it affects some...but to me hardly noticeable.
