Btw, when I bought my previous bike (Super Glide Custom), as we were getting down to the short strokes, the dealer offered me a $500 gift card to sweeten the deal. I looked at him for a moment, and asked: "Can I just apply that to the purchase price?". He looked at me for a second, and said "Sure".

Done!

 

maybe that seems a lot because i put more down on my 48. I perfer to have a lower payment with a longer loan and make a larger payment. However i did get the hardcandy paint for the price$ of the standard black..but the $750 gift card is cool. i wouldn't apply the $750 to the price. $750 dollars in a drop of water in the bucket compared to the bikes total price......id use the gift card for services work/parts if you go with Harley parts. unless you plan on doing your parts installs and services yourself, which everyone will recommend. the 1000 miles "service" in cali where i am was over $900. I had handle bars and a brake line install at the time of the service. such a joke. Also my extended warrenty as proven to be a big joke as well.

 

Working at dealerships for a long time if u ask for money off your going to pay setup and frieght cause they actually get charged that. If ur paying msrp tell them u want setup n frieght included

 

$14,500 is a lot for a Sportster. That's a Dyna price point. Remember there are plenty of new 48s out there, so be prepared to walk away from this one. I would start by asking them to knock off TTL (tax, title, license) from the out-the-door price. Go from there. Call other dealers, tell them what you're looking for, what this dealer's offering, and play them against each other. Don't be afraid to drive a hundred miles to a place that offers you a good deal.

 

OP; I wouldn't feel obligated to buy the bike where you took the RE course. Seems like they're roping you in and everything you listed isn't really a good deal. My kids $15K car is only $166/month w/ 0-down. I say...walk away & shop around, or look for used.

You can do a lot better than that. I got my 14 brand new with passenger pillion and pegs for 10,700 out the door. I put 0 down and my payments are like 180 a month.

 

When I first started looking for a bike I went right to the dealer looking for a new one, I couldn't bring myself around to paying nearly 29k for a new bike. I ended up finding a super low mile ultra classic for half of what the new ones were going for.
Look on cycle trader and you'll find a like new forty eight for a ton less than new and you'll have money left over for mods.
