Yes, they're dumb pipes.
Alone, they're useful for taking your money, making lots of noise, and robbing performance. If you're ok with that, forge on.
However, if you're the least bit concerned about some guy on a Vespa with a Hello Kitty sticker on its front fairing beating you off the line at a traffic signal in front of all your boys (LOL), with the addition of something like DK Customs "TTI [Thunder Torque Inserts]" devices installed into those style pipes, you will at least gain some usefulness in your low and mid RPM ranges:

See example below:
As you can see, they're very simple devices which are easy to install.
Call or e-mail Kev if you've got any questions, and I'm sure he'll be happy to explain the how's and why's of them, or you could do a search here as there are numerous informational threads detailing their virtues on this very forum.

I already know about the lollipop trick as I already stated but thanks for pointing it out again. I am concerned about performance but I intend to use rear set pegs from chainsikle. Can you or anyone recommend pipes that are compatible with those? its hard to find ones that have a short pipe look to it that are compatible with rear sets
and i hate the box exhaust from ryca
