i bought the harley kit for $600.00 at Riverside harley and did the install myself. even the 1200 kit will make your bike scream.the gearing is all wrong, i mean you'll do 0 - 60 in the 3 sec. range. if i wanted to go that fast i'd buy rice. 883 gearing gives you a pretty low top end speed which you can hit in a big a## hurry. you can do what you want but i sold mine and bought a 1200L. way happier with it.

On the subject of gearing, there is no need to install 1200 gearing when modifying an 883 to 1200 or 1250. Leave alone to get maximum benefit rom your investment!

I bought the se stage 2 kit in November 2014 because dealer had black Friday deal that any parts or accredited would be installed for free. The only thing I had to pay was $360 dyno labor. Gained 18 hp and 20 ft pounds torque, that's over the 10to 15 that was gained with stage1. Was best money spent.

Well I suppose I'll call some local dealers tomorrow as well as a few independent shops. I'm mostly just trying to go the cheaper route. Preferably under $2,000 all said and done if possible. Cvaria, have you had your bike dynoed? Do you know what power/torque you are putting down?
It all comes down to what is important to you. If retaining the warranty is worth likely a small hit to performance and future flexibility for other changes then go for one of the kits. Otherwise, I'd absolutely go aftermarket. In which case I'd pick up a 1250/Power Vision, do the work yourself, and I'm sure whomever you buy from will hook you up with a good map to use with their parts and then you can save on the dyno too.

My stock 1200 with AN Derby Sucker and D&D Bobcat came in at 78/78. I used a SE Pro Tuner because the guy I wanted to do the work was at the dealership at the time. It would cost me $380 to get another tune at the dealership where I'm moving after the modifications I'm currently doing. I'm now upgrading to a Power Vision and that + the new dyno will only be a little more. I have never cared about warranties though. She's never been back to the dealership since we rolled out 5 years ago.

And just asking & it's your money, but how much more do you think the PV & dyno time will gain you ove the SE Pro tuner you already have?

Well the screaming eagle stage race kits don't have warranty, only the street kits do. And what future flexibility do you lose using the SE race kits?

What are you trying to say here? I'm a little lost on your point. What does a turbo Vrod got to do with what I asked? It is a sweet ride & one day my mom " aka wife " will let me get one I hope.
