Default Blue Exhaust Pipes

I was just curious if its indicitive or Harleys to have the pipes start to turn blue? I have less than 200 miles on the '07 1200 Custom. I called the service department of Anchorage House of Harley, and they told me to bring it in at around 700 miles for the 1k tune up and that they would make the determination then. Am I being hosed or is this completely normal? Everything is stock on the bike by the way.

Your hosed. They shouldn't turn blue.

I have about 1300 KM (800 miles) on mine and if you look behind the heat shields up by the heads the pipes themselves are blue down about 4 to 6 inches so far.
I figured it was normal and the heat shields hide it anyway.

The exposed mufflers are 4 piece. Shouldn't blue at all.

My pipes from the heads down about 6 inches are blue as well. Right behind the heat sheilds. Saw them when I changed my mufflers to Cycle Shacks.

This was when I had about 200 miles on the bike. The bike now has over 400 and the blueing is not getting any worse...

It's normal.
The stainless pipe will blue.
The chrome shield will not. There's air between the two.
The issue really is how much blueing you're getting.
Overly blue headers tend to indicate that you are running
on the lean side... more oxygen.. less fuel... hotter gases... bluer pipes.

The pipes will blue down to the slip ons. My last Sportie had 3000 miles on it and the slip-ons were not blued. I just took off my old slip-ons they aren't nor are the drag pipes I have on it now.

Most Harley shops sell something called Blue Buster I believe. It works great as my pipes have no shields and are constantly turning colors.
