1988 clutch question

1988 clutch question
I have the primary off a 1988 883 to clean it up. While pulling the starter I noticed if I grab the clutch assembly I can wiggle it around some. Is play normal in the clutch with the primary off?

They have varying amounts of play in them- less is better. Is ok so long as the magnets behind the clutch aren't hitting the stator
