hid extension under brow.

xr shocks fail, sort of
will remove in the AM... sadly.
xr shocks are great and i like the height but, they introduced 3 issues:
before/after
tall bruiser
red = possible contacts<br/>yellow= exposed belt (not an issue for some folks)

xr shocks are great and i like the height but, they introduced 3 issues:
- loosened belt (obvious issue i anticipated and was negotiotiating with a seller on XR tensioner)
- possible belt rubbing on brake M/C...
- possible rubbing on grenade lower mount (may be a non issue in a few days... but, could be the same with bassani mount

he seemed fine... with 15" shocks. i need to reach out to him and see how it all worked, if he's still around and the puppet didn't kill him.
Well, I decided that since my shocks are blown at 5,000 miles I really didn't want to mess about with getting them replaced with the same ridiculous suspension the factory put on it.
I've been doing some research and I've been consulting with some extraordinarily skilled riders and I decided to skip the "typical" Progressive shocks and make the jump to the 15" Progressive 413 rear springs. I ordered a set from Donahue HD (http://www.donahuehd.com/) It was only fair since I have been bugging Brett Donahue to learn all his secrets to setting up his 1200R.
They just came in this morning. Impressive.
Mr. Happy sez "Once you go BLACK, you never go stock"
I went through and installed them in about half an hour or so and here's some pictures.
Mr. Happy thinks it's best to install the lower bolt first...
A little clearance issue? Play with the spacers and use a ball peen hammer. Just like working on an old Triumph!
Mind your torque values.....
Mr. Happy sez "A missing shock is better than a Harley shock!!!"
Mr. Happy sez "It's ready, let's ride - it's only a little rain..."
Mr. Happy finds a nice, dry place with a roof
Once I get a couple hundred miles on the bike, I'll write up a report on their performance. Initial test runs are very, very promising.

got frames from yellow reflectors
stole the frames from yellow fork reflectors and replaced with smoked reflectors
tested various ways to get the yellow reflectors off the frame. t
urned out that heating them with the heat gun, poking a hole into the body, dumping in finger nail polish remover, and letting them sit for a few minutes weakend the bonding agent and made them easy to remove. clean up hard to get bits with the dremel.
once dried and cleaned up. i stuck in the new smoked reflectors.
applied
