Default "Custom Dynamics" Probeam 5.75" LED Headlight

Light showed up early. packaging and actually packing get a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10. i'm shocked that they'd roll like this on a $450 unit. gonna be so blow back on that at Daytona in March, i'm sure. looks really bad and it's secure horribly. never seen anything like that and i run a $25-$50 knock off that came packed better... geez.

Dump:

banjos and speed bleeders are for another project... speed bleeders are the s**t!!

the horror!!!

dafuq!!!!!!! J.W. Speaker????? Oh boy.... another rebranded light
struggled to get it in the HD LED Bucket (need to get rid if it, it's crappy and designed for the old daymakers)

man... that's light! definitely the next breed of LED being used here

Ok, I'll say that this light is not as harsh as the Trubeam is but, definitely BRIGHT with smooth transitions between light zones and crisp boundries. cool white light... much cleaner the the 8690/8790 series. That's the JW Speaker know-how right there. definitley a nice light and a step above the 8690M/8790M. i could 100% see the square shape of the center D-rings when the high beam was on.. like this big floating square.... that was weird. not a bad light... way better that anything hd is selling currently. not the best on the market though. [B]8790A and 8690A are still the champs but, at this price... 8690M, 8790m, trubeam, and Probeam are still better buys than most of the stuff at or near the $300-$500 range.

sound is jacked up in the first bit of the vid... guess there was dust on the mic connector or something. watch the vid long enough and you will see that your day was not as bad a someone's day.

Nice review. You have reviewed alot of lights.
As usual, I'm a bit behind/lost...

Do you have a 'ranking list' with your results/conclusions ?

thanks for any insight,

T.

off the cuff.. 1-8 are fine. 1-5 are best i've tested. if you are dropping bank, 1-4 are great. no complex rubric lol
  1. 8790a/8690a
  2. probeam/ whatever the real model is the jw rebranded for cd
  3. 8690m/8790m
  4. trubeam/vision x vortex
  5. sunpie and various knockoffs
  6. 2018+ daymaker signature
  7. LED h4
  8. old daymaker (all generations)
  9. 8620 (terrible)
  10. stock candle light

Thank you for the list. Mine already has 8 installed. I haven't had it outside at night to be able to tell if I even like it. ... -10C last night and snowing today.
I have a feeling I'm going to follow along your ongoing testing and find a knock-off in that list later.

the last gen daymaker is just fine. nothing to worry about. the problem is the price vs value. it's an old jw speaker design with a market value of about $50-125 but, hd still charges $300+. making it a better choice to buy a wisamic/sunpie/knock-off vs paying 300-400. you got yours with the bike so you win. puts you at 5. 1-4 are ahead of the curve.

Right on then. I thought the ratings were in order of performance only, not value for price factored.

Are you getting any usable light in front/side from the LED front signals. If you mentioned the source for those previously, I missed it.

those are custom dynamics (cd) Moon Shinez. they don't make those and more but, some sellers still have them. pure white light, not like the CD dynamic rings everyone runs. cd just updated their turn signal inserts. i will try out the rears but, probably not the fronts rings. i like the pure white light:

i was getting good light on the sides until i switched to 2003 and xl/big twin style turn signal mounts that don't angle out that far.

did the oil change... tried the Ernst Manufacturing Greg's Drip-Free Oil Filter Funnel because maybe there's a better way than aluminium foil and cut up garbage.... but, the funnel is uncut garbage....

never saw that little oil come from the filter. seemed okay... but..

while i was on the other side of the bike filling the oil, i looked down and saw oil all over the tarp (because stuff happens). must have gone behind the "Evil Greg" funnel. had to kitty litter it before it got off the tarp. i think i will keep using foil.

I am considering the Custom Dynamics ProBEAM and the JW Speaker 8700 Evolution 2 Dual Burn 7" Headlight. Any thoughts on where the 8700 falls in that top 10 list?

it's up there with the 8790m/8760m. it was king of the hill before they came out.
