Reverse a tank-lift

Reverse a tank-lift
Good Morning gents,
I did a 3" tank lift on my 48 with the peanut tank. I would like to swap my tank to a 4.5 gallon. Obviously it would look ridiculous with a 3" lift on that big tank so my question is: will I be able to fit my wiring on the backbone of the frame without a lift?
If not, what would be the best way to put the wiring/hide it for the 4.5 gallon tank? Do I need to get the stock plastic holder and put it all back together?
Has anyone reversed a tank lift to swap to the big 4.5 gallon tank?

Find a better way than that ugly plastic channel. Try tucking the wires so that they're between the sides of the frame and the tank. Or just below it tucked neatly up into the corner. You can use zip ties to hold them where you want. You can use black conduit to make ugly exposed wires look better.
Lots of guys have done wire tucking with the 3.3 tank without a lift. I've never looked at the underside of a 4.5 but I would imagine there is something you can do.

I did a wire tuck on my 48 with a 4.5 gallon tank. I was able to just wrap up the wires and tie them up to the underside of the frame backbone and kinda fan them out a bit on the sides of the tank. I got all of the wires out of sight without a tank lift. The 4.5 gallon tank drops farther down on each side of the frame so you can hide the wires pretty easily. The way I did it, a lift would make the wires visible again. With a 2" tank lift you can tuck them on top of the fram between the tank and frame. I just didn't want to loose out on any fuel so I didn't lift the tank.

A wire tuck can be done with no tank lift. Check out the thread below for instructions and pictures.
It is easier with a 1.5" or 2" tank lift, but can definitely be done, without having to cut or remove connectors.
